Trade between Vietnam and Cambodia has developed significant economic ties over the last decade, with Vietnam being Cambodia's third-largest trading partner and its largest trading partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). At the start of 2024 bilateral trade between the two countries had reached $10.57 billion, and it is expected to reach $20 billion. Cambodia serves as a source of many raw materials for Vietnamese industry, particularly rubber. It is also a major consumer of Vietnamese products like iron and steel, construction materials, processed food and consumer goods. Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang said that in 2024 and beyond, the two countries will continue to coordinate to realise existing agreements and memoranda of understanding, including the border trade and the 2023-2024 bilateral trade promotion agreements.
