26 August 2021: The Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) has been extended for six months. With 97% of work completed on the APTTA, restrictions on the movement of trucks between the countries have been removed. It was reported that 557 trucks crossed the Torkham border on 24 August alone. Senator Zeeshan Khanzada of Pakistan said: “The system is working well at the moment and Pakistan continues to engage in trade activities with Afghanistan in accordance with the international law.”
