THE BUSINESS OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE
The Kenyan Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) has announced new fees for importers and exporters of agricultural products subject to phytosanitary checks, starting 15 July 2024. Under the updated directive from KEPHIS, exporters of fresh produce will be required to obtain a phytosanitary certificate and undergo inspection before their products can be exported. For imported agricultural produce/products, KEPHIS will require a plant import permit and inspection certificate. Fees include 600 Kenyan shilling (Ksh) approximately £4.00) per plant permit, 10,000 Ksh before a vessel is inspected, 3,000 to inspect a large aircraft, 1,000 Ksh for inspection of 40 foot containers and 1,000 Ksh moisture content determination per sample.
