The British International Freight Association (BIFA) hosted its annual Award Ceremony last week, celebrating the hard work and successes of UK Freight Forwarders in 2019. The Awards, which were hosted by broadcaster and Paralympian Ade Adepitan, took place at The Brewery in Chiswell Street, London, the host venue of the ceremony since its inauguration in 1989. 33 Freight Forwarding companies were shortlisted for awards in categories including General, Modal, and Specialist.
The winners included Brunel Air Cargo Services, Core Management Logistics Ltd, Davies Turner, Morgan Cargo, Noatum Logistics, Spatial Global, Westbound Logistics and Zencargo. In the individual categories, Jenna Morgan of Wallis Shipping was named Young Freight Forwarder of the Year, whilst Thomas Frost of Geodis Freight Forwarding and Jack Reddington of Hemisphere Freight Services were announced as joint winners of Apprentice of the Year.
BIFA President Sir Peter Bottomley MP welcomed guests to the luncheon ceremony. Describing the BIFA Freight Service Awards, which this year were awarded for the 31st time, BIFA General Director Robert Keen said that "After 30 years, the BIFA Freight Service awards have established a reputation as the Oscars of the UK freight and logistics industry. Whilst the awards are all about rewarding excellence, the luncheon once again proved to be an excellent opportunity for Members and guests to network, cement existing relationships, and develop new ones." Mr Kean also paid tribute to Adepitan as the award's host, explaining "Having achieved success in the Athens Paralympics and the European Championships, Ade’s sporting career culminated in a world championship gold medal. His drive is an example for all the companies that enter the BIFA awards, as they seek reward for endeavour and professionalism, whilst being able to demonstrate high standards, determination and professionalism."
