The British Exporters Association (BExA) has partnered with ITN Industry News to co-produce a unique programme raising awareness and understanding of the UK’s export ambitions and challenges in a post-Brexit, pandemic-informed world.

Exporting is vital to the UK economy. In 2019, the UK was the fifth largest exporter in the world and the value of exports equated to almost a third of GDP. There is a national ambition to help UK businesses grow on the world stage by unlocking business potential to transform our export performance. The export market opportunity for the UK’s green sector alone is estimated to be worth up to £170 billion a year by 2030.

Anchored by ITN Productions presenter Lizzy Burden, the programme follows a news-style format featuring a combination of key sector interviews, independent news items, and inspirational editorial profiles led by ITN Productions news reporters filmed on location.

The British Exporters Association focuses on the export ambitions of the UK, providing education and support for businesses hoping to improve their export performance. In a studio interview with BExA co-chairs Marcus Dolman and Geoffrey de Mowbray, Exporting for Britain reveals how UK exporters can remain competitive with overseas markets, and overcome perceived barriers which surround the process.

In a second studio interview, Minister for Exports Mike Freer MP addresses the government’s stance on exportation, revealing its actions to support businesses post-Brexit and highlighting the importance of exporting for the UK and its economy.

In a special news item from the programme, ITN Productions reporter Sharon Thomas explores how important exporting is for individual businesses, and how the Department of International Trade is working to support businesses and encourage more to get involved with exportation.

UK Export Finance, the UK’s Export Credit Agency provided support to NMS Infrastructure who work to share skills and expertise in developing countries. Exporting for Britain spotlights the work they have done in Zambia to build hospitals, providing locals with high quality healthcare, new jobs, and valuable skills. Head of Business Development Nick Oliver highlights why these projects are important and reveals how they help the UK economy.
