THE BUSINESS OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE
The All Party Political Group (APPG) for Trade & Export Promotion is looking for supporters from the international trade community, among other areas.
APPGs are, according to the UK Parliament website, "informal cross-party groups that have no official status within Parliament. They are run by and for Members of the Commons and Lords, though many choose to involve individuals and organisations from outside Parliament in their administration and activities."
The APPG for Trade & Export Promotion is a recent innovation, founded in September 2020. It says it exists to bring all aspects of trade under one roof - policy, exports, investment, and finance. It aims to do this by bringing together parliamentarians and industry, in a non-partisan setting, helping to achieve trade deals around the globe, connecting with trade dialogues at the WTO, UN, G7, G20, WHO etc. It focuses on sustainable, green trade. It is not a lobbying forum.
Supporters, aka sponsors, will enjoy benefits including:
The secretariat for the APPG is ICC UK, the UK office of the International Chambers of Commerce, and it's Director is Chris Southworth (interviewed in the July-August issue of The Exporter).
The next APPG evidence session on Trade & Climate will be held on 15th September. A call for evidence went out in early July. If you are interested in submitting evidence or attending the session, get in touch for further details at secretariat@appgtrade.uk
